Would it be too much to ask, to have both my GPRS and my SMS working, that both my voicemail systems tell me that I've got messages, that my wireless and Streamyx can work simultaneously 99.999% of the time?
Would it be too much to ask, to be able to surf BurtonGroup and Maybank2u, and be able to receive Yahoo messages in real-time as opposed to getting it 2 hours later? Would it be too much to ask to be able to do all this, and not have to change proxies every hour or so?
Would it be too much to ask to have everything work, instead of one thing at a time, a different thing at different points of the timeline?
Would it be too much to ask, to not have my antivirus run at 9 and at 12 - seeing that my hard drive is so big, I can't even remember when it wasn't running? (And don't tell me to click on cancel, because knowing how Windoze works, it still hangs on to precious resources that slows down my mail, office apps and visio eventhough it 'claims' it's not running...)
Would it be too much to ask, to not have my camera screw up the USB port which I installed my PDA driver to? And when I get it to work, why can't it always successfully sync my calendar, tasklist and contacts? Is it too much to ask, even after I've given up on getting my emails to sync (into the correct folders)?
And why do I have to unplug my Astro feed to the TV when I want to turn on my DVD player, eventhough Astro is on standby? Why does a payment system that requires you to still go to a physical shop call itself an e-Top Up system? (Note to Maxis: There's nothing 'e' about it!)
It's ironic that I'm in such a information and communication rut...
*grrrrrrr*
Posted by Najah Nasseri at 2004年05月25日 12:40 | TrackBackHmm. As for the Astro issue, here's what I think:
Buy yourself a multi-signal adapter that will cost you less than RM 30, plug the Astro feed in one end, and the DVD feed in the other. So whenever you want to watch astro, slide the switch one way, and vice versa. Alternately you could also buy a home theatre system and have everything plug into one receiver. I'd go for the former if I were you.
As for the others, I'll just wish you luck. It's more fun that way.
Posted by: Ash.ox at 2004年05月25日 12:56Do like what Ash.Ox said or you can get yourself a new tv with multiple inputs. Make sure the tv also supports that newer cabling for DVD for a better picture quality.
Posted by: Noor Hidayat at 2004年05月25日 13:06Naj, that's what I have at home. Relatively cheap, can buy it at any hardware store. I got mine at Sen Heng :)
And as for everything else, I feel your pain.
Posted by: meesh at 2004年05月25日 13:57Hmm, how old is your telly? Surely it has more than just one input?
Anyways, Ash's suggestion is good. Easy and cheap.
About the Windows thing, just stop the Task Scheduler or whatever it's called. I do my scanning manually whenever I feel like it, no machine's gonna tell me when I should do it!
And did you noticed how every gadget works effortlessly in movies? Wonder what OS they're using hehe..
Posted by: Sue at 2004年05月25日 19:28Sue: Probably BeOs, since there's no way anything else can be THAT graphical.
:P
Posted by: Ash.ox at 2004年05月25日 20:23would it be too much to ask, that you learn to write objectively like Jeff Ooi?

Last I checked, no one made anyone come here.

najah, i thought you've switched? OS X is the best. watch out for 10.4 Tiger in Q4 this year.

HansW: No, I didn't get the joke. In fact, I have a theory that askanyway is a disgruntled Maxis marketing executive.. heheh.. (now that's a joke - at least to me lah).
I am on OS X. The Windoze in question is my work notebook, a clunky Acer Travelmate 800.
