The Astro letter came. It said that I now have to pay an extra RM5 for the existing programming that I enjoy. I never really minded it (at the end of the day, prices will only go up and such is a fact of life...), although in principle, I do protest in that they can't just hike up the price without any difference in service.
What makes me mind the RM5 now is this - to justify the increase, they highlighted some of the 'quality programmes and channels' that I enjoy, namely:
English Premier League
Akademi Fantasia
Formula 1
AXN Fear Factor
"24" Season 2
CSI Miami
Everybody Loves Raymond
WWE Wrestling
With the exception of one or (at most) two on the list, I wouldn't say that these programs are ample justification for the RM5 increase. But then again, we all have different tastes.
Astro, I appreciated the notification, but you should have stopped there. Listing down what you think of as 'quality programming' made me think twice...
Posted by Najah Nasseri at 2004年05月25日 00:14 | TrackBacki just had astro installed a few months ago but i am thinking of unsubscribing. reasons? i watch too much tv, many of the programs are reruns and there's simply too much to watch. i have lived with the 5 or 6 channels that we get without astro and that was ok 99% of the time. i don't watch english premier league or the teams, i just play football. don't watch it but just play it.
anyway, still thinking.

Besides, there's CSI. I'm just such a couch potato. But yeah, we'll see how long I can last.

and what about kadiaq complaining that astro is showing too much violent and "adegan lucah".. it's a matter choice... if you don't like what's showing.. why subscribe.. it's a satellite tv for god sake.. that's the whole point, ain't it? we've already got 6 reasonably good free-to-air channels anyway
ash... i've got the whole season 4 of CSI in HDTV format on my PC :p
Who needs astro when you've got emule? :p

Now unless you've got a stoinking 70 inch plasma display and 7.1 DD HT system to pair with your Windows Media Centre Edition, I sincerely hope you enjoy your HDTV-enhanced CSI.
