Live by what you trust, not by what you fear.

I know that there are people who voted for BN because they feared the brand of Islam that PAS propagated. I know that there are people who voted for PAS because they feared the path that a BN-lifestyle may lead them in the Hereafter.

"Live by what you trust, not by what you fear."

I trust that Malaysia is not the sum of its politicians, rather its people. I trust that our country will not crumble if BN had won by a smaller margin. I also trust that while KLSE does impact the lives of many, it does not impact the lives of everyone.

I trust that no man is perfect - this includes Pak Lah, Tuan Guru Haji Abdul Hadi Awang, Mr Karpal Singh dan lain-lain. I trust that the Opposition loves Malaysia as much as Barisan Nasional.

I trust that PAS will not have enough votes to form a government for a long time - not because of what it lacks in terms of marketing and change management, rather the simple fact that demographics (and probability) will not let it.

I trust that UMNO will keep itself in check for as long as there is a strong influence holding it accountable to it. One force was Mahathir. Another was a strong opposition.

now..the question of the day..

can we trust SPR to do their job, PROFESSIONALLY?

Posted by: hafiz at 2004年03月24日 00:17

As a lay person, I guess that would be the best thing that we can do. However sometimes it is also sad that the elected officials, as people do not see Trust as something important enough to live up to. It is however sad that the issue has become so visible and gone so far that the only thing everyone seems to ask for is for the "compensating control" i.e. The opposition.

I agree,
Opposition Loves Malaysia just as much, if not more.

BN leaders earn, the Opp do not, but they still do it

Well said and written, Najah.
If I may respond to Hafiz's remark/question, I think SPR (from the way the Chairman has expressed his stand) had acted very UNprofessionally by refusing to take responsibility of what happened during the Election Day and worse, start pointing fingers at other people. SPR is the coordinator of the day - it IS SPR's responsibility to ensure things went smooth sailing.

If we want to make an analogy out of it, kalau anak kecik secara sengaja pecahkan pasu bunga mahal kat rumah orang, ibu bapa dia masih dipertanggungjawabkan sebab tak mendidik anak kecik tu yang merosakkan harta benda orang adalah salah.

"Live by what you trust, not by what you fear."

very good motto indeed. however, sad to say, it doesn't take much to put fear into people... so there you have it, those who fear the stability of our country will collapse voted for 'stability to continue'.

I think you guys are a bunch of brilliant professionals with great credibility but only remain as armchair politician. I am sure the ruling party needs brains like yours. Why not do some contribution by getting actively involved in the political arena. Thank You.

The question is, can we trust them with our brains and minds? IS getting involved politically the ONLY way any change can be wrought? Can't we serve our country any other way, perhaps in ways we do best?

Or perhaps some of us are unsure if we WILL remember when the bright lights are in our faces.

From my reading here, the Promuda group and blogs linked by this site, many have voiced out the same frustration with our governing institution. I wonder if you guys can collectively (thru Promuda) or individually get some answers about your concerns from the politicians. I know speaking out is already a big deal in our country, but can we move one step further. It is still hard to do ? Did anyone ever asked a big shot.... err.. Datuk/Tan Sri when can we get a bit more press freedom? Promuda seems to have easy access to these people.

I'll send a box of Belgian chocolate to whoever did it.

That's axactly the problem, people want to see change first, but they themselves are NOT gutsy enough to even start doing. What they do is ONLY asking question like..."can we trust them, can we this, can we that..." and it goes on because they themselves are comfortable with what they have. "why I bother" attitude.

Aptly put Najah. We should get the fear out of our heads.

Cliche as it may be, allow me to quote Che Guevara:

"I would like to state that, at the risk of sounding absurd, a revolutionary is guided by love."

Not fear. And before I get arrested under the ISA, replace revolutionary with "democrats".
