Dress My Feet

I bumped into the Shoes-in-Question online today. Google searches are amazing, while looking for something else, I inadvertantly found online those Kenneth Cole shoes that I can't wear. The caption says that the shoes are made from Nappa leather - the upper part of the shoes that is. No mention of what lines it. Sigh.

So my quest continues. I brought the girls past another pair that I'm eyeing, and while it would cost me the equivalent of monthly rent for a nice apartment, the masochist in me screams for it. Walk by Prada KLCC for a look. Check out the most 'high altitude' pair on display.

Kenneth Cole Maggie MayGetting a second, third and fourth opinion was good in that now there's a voice inside my head (albeit a faint one) that's telling me: shop around.

So, without those shoes, my fingers did the walking...

I found another Kenneth Cole design online that I may like, and looking at the price, I can probably get a pair of these shoes and feed the poor for the price of those Pradas. I've gotten my fair share of lectures on what is necessary and what is excessive (although I assure you, my last purchase was at least 3 months ago, and I do thrash my shoes quite a bit because of how I walk), but once in a while, it is liberating to dress one's feet...

I love heels, but wearing them out in public makes me self-concious at times cause I tend to "strut" in them. My hips sways "lain macam", I walk slower than usual, and I'll cross my legs unnecessarily, like they do on the runways. BUt love them, nonetheless. Here's my latest buy, oh and if you're wondering why I take pictures of my shoes, it's to put outside of the shoe box so I know where to look for a particular pair :D

Oh.. and I got them at 75% off. Never buy anything at retail ppl!

Sexy heels - I go by the philosophy that a girl can never have enough shoes. My knees go weak when I walk into the shoe department at Barney's and Otto Tootsie Plohound, they have the best selection and burn gigantic holes in your wallet.

BTW Freud - nice shoes!

My what a luxury!!! BTW what is that thing beside the upright shoe? A bag? A pouch? The other shoe? If you can afford it now, honey, JUST GET IT! You'll regret later! (Speaking from experience)

until i got a long long dress,i never realised how to walk without bouncing so much when using heels.

now, trying to glideeeeeeeeeeeeeee... heck, it's not easy, even with a book. got a neck strain believe it or not! even without the book!

i had been trying to look for school shoes online but the one i get shows only a few shoes. i like wearing school. 2 months ago bought one in singapore, carried it all the way back penang, then discovered in penang, it was RM10 cheaper! argh!

i like imported shoes like hush puppies and bonia but unfortunately since my feet is so small, most imported shoes does not have my size. :(

Lucia,

dun tell me you are size 3??? sigh.

Google is amazing, isn't it?

Only last week one of my lecturers caught a student plagiarising a substantial part of his essay by keying in phrases that didn't seem quite right into Google.

Well woman, you know what I think about those shoes.... and I still maintain that you should try them out because they look decidedly uncomfortable.

:)

Posted by: meesh at 2004年01月09日 10:13

yeah, nappa leather is not known to be comfy..

Posted by: pickyin at 2004年01月09日 13:41

Lucia - think Bonia n Hush Puppies are imported brands but dont think they're imported shoes. In car speak, they'll say it's assembled locally.

Why do girls need a new shoe every month?

Posted by: haniff at 2004年01月09日 17:03

oh well.. have you guys heard of Jukebox?

(obviously a male).

Posted by: pk at 2004年01月09日 17:59

Google gonna go public!!!

Posted by: haxa at 2004年01月09日 18:00

tracy, spot on! i'm size 3. sometimes though it is size 4... it all depends on the made of the shoes.

well hanif, i guess even if bonia and hush puppies are locally made, they'll be made to suit the imported ones... therefore no size 3! :(

PK,
I remember it vaguely... if it's shoes you're talking about. My sister had a pair and this was way back in 1993.

Posted by: haniff at 2004年01月10日 10:49

Although I belong to the same gender, I can never quite understand how most women feel the need to shop for shoes ever so often? I mean hey, get a black pair and you can just about match it with anything! No?

Posted by: naz at 2004年01月11日 17:27

Dear All,

FYI, it's not a new shoe every month. I do a fair bit of walking and I wear out my shoes, mainly because I don't rotate them - once I have my favourites, it sticks for the next couple of months.

I used to be able to keep my shoes for 2 years, when I was studying in Melbourne. I guess the local pavements and the weather are much harsher on shoes.

Shoes, glorious shoes, owning 10 pairs does not seem enough, I wonder when will my passion for black shoes ends? anybody care to help me out!!

I have to say this (lah). That is some NICE pair of shoes, kudos to that. Gettit. Now. Doit. ;)

You can increase the life of your shoes by:
1) Rotate your shoes daily. By doing so, it gives time for the shoes to dry because the feet produce a lot of sweat.
2) Use a wooden shoe tree, it helps to absorb water from the shoe, reshape it and iron out the wrinkles.
2) "Tampal" a sole before you use them, the cobbler will know what to do (cost abt RM2 ?). You can replace the sole when it's worn out.
3) Polish your shoes before wearing them, it helps to protect the skin, esp from scratches.
4) If the shoe cost a bomb, go bare-footed if it rains. :) heh heh

Tampal a sole for RM2? What? Where? Which cobler?!! I send my new shoes for tampal at Suria, all about RM20++....

Posted by: Noreen at 2004年01月13日 07:36

Of course it depends on what type of soles used...
