Gerammm Nyeaaaa!!!

My Cute Little Niece What a Pau!

This is Aeisyah Humaira' at 9 months. We used to babysit her, but now she's with her great-grandmother in Muar for a short while, because her grandparents, who took care of her previously, are planning to go somewhere during the Merdeka weekend. Interesting how such a little bundle can inspire some big thoughts.

I saw her again last weekend. She can do lots of things now, like babble and immitate simple actions (like waving goodbye). She gets hyper quite easily, probably because my father feeds her bread and kaya. Now that she can crawl (quite fast I might add), she insists on roaming, much to our detriment - all that chasing around can get very tiring. One night, I wondered where she was going. As an adult, it is natural for me to insist that she sits right in front of me where I can see her - which is of course, totally opposite of what she wants to do.

Crawling... Crawling some more...

So I let her crawl, me trailing closely behind. She went out of the livingroom, towards the study, which is two steps below the level we were at. Instead of pulling her back, I wrapped my arms around her, leaving her enough room to maneuver herself, but shielding her enough just in case she slipped. I wondered if she could figure out how to crawl down the steps.

She put her tiny hands on the lower step, and inched her legs sideways, and one by one, lowered the legs so that she is squarely on the lower step. Then, she lowers her legs again to the next step (the floor), all the while holding her hands steady, and lands in a sitting position.

Amazing what kids can do if you give them the benefit of the doubt...

Kids, never know fear. Somehow I believe adults are the ones that instill it in them. The pure spirit of adventure.

She is so cute.

I kissed babies and their smells are great!(btw, I am not a politician that goes around kissing babies near election time).
I used to have cute babies in the 80's and every time I travelled by plane,my baby will be taken away by the stewardess. He was pampared with kisses and gifts...When I told my wife that I prefer to exchange places with my son,she got jealous;-)

always wondered why cuteness is associated with "geram"

I got me two nephewa, who are adorable. I think babies n little kids are cute, because of their innocence :-) ... cuteness = geram ? haha... ye la, meh, geram nak cubit those baby cheeks :-)

My sister is approaching 21 months old. She now no longer crawls, but runs all over the place. Babysitting her is a jogfest these days.

The best thing about it all? When she gets cranky, I get to give her back to mum :)

Hmmmm my two kids are some of the greatest gift that Allah has given me. Those little bubbly mouth, cutie little fingers, chubby face, cheeky smiles...ahhhh feel like going home now and give them a hug..hehehe

Ya la Fische, we adults tend to instill fear in them. My maid used to say this to my kids "Aaaaa anjingg, ambik budak nihh" or "Pegi la dlm bilik tu, eeiiii gelapppp". Now my kids afraid of the dark & dog...*sigh*

Babies... what a miracle.. the greatest sign that there's God... Allah swt

But then... when we grow up... we tend to forget He who creates us from just a sperm... some of us even deny Allah swt....

its a sperm + an egg. It takes two to tango my friend, don't u forget that!

At the mo' i'm working in a hospital full of babies... yes k. najah, very the geram one. Pinch and hug them all the time! About the smell....hrmmm...i dunno. Wait till YOU have to be the one who change their diapers! ahhahaha!

comel Aeisyah Humaira tu. nama pun baik, siap ada gelaran isteri kesayangan Rasulullah saw lagi. semoga membesar pun menyalin pekerti ummul mukminin itu.

i like the cute imagery... "Then, she lowers her legs again to the next step (the floor), all the while holding her hands steady, and lands in a sitting position."
maintain the kawaii-ness :D

Alahai comelnya ...
Babies and kids are always cute and cuddly till they reach the age of 5+, then they mutate into little monsters. I really salute those kindergarten teachers.

No seriously, why are you totally against having a baby now? Tak kan berdosa tu.

Posted by: janey at 2003年08月25日 10:28

Janey,

When we don't know the person, we shouldn't be too quick to pass judgment, especially in the area of dosa tak berdosa.

Mana tau, orang tu sakit ke, keadaan tak mengizinkan ke, belum ada rezeki ke, apa ke...

Hai.. inilah Melayu. Orang nak share their lives, others so quick to judge, instead of being encouraging.

When did I say I was against having kids???

Bukan ke benda tu rezeki, kalau ada, ada. Kalau tak de, tak ada.

aiyo ... she is sooo cute! esp the first pic. now i miss my lil' cousins ... :)

I wonder ya, why I always come across this kind of statement "Hai..inilah org2 Melayu..bla..bla..bla.." when negative remarks/action/etc dilakukan oleh seorang dua org Melayu. Asal tak elok je, Melayu..buruk je, Melayu..lupa diri je, Melayu...malas je, Melayu...is our Malay THAT bad? To me personally, Malay ke, Chinese ke, Indian ke or any bangsa pun semuanya 2 x 5... Nobody's perfect. So I think everyone should stop making this kind of generalization ler...Ajino, no hard feelings ya..I'm not directing this to you specifically..this is just a general statement.

"Inilah org Melayu..itu pun nak sensitif..nak kecoh2.." -- I heard that! ;-P

I was just reading the thread, and it is quite suprising how a simple picture of an innocent child could drive such judgemental remarks.

Honestly, the decision to have kids or otherwise is a domestic one. I believe it is rather inappropriate that we conclude by Najah's silence that she does not want to have kids. I thought the post indicated that quite clearly.

Having kids, I believe is a blessing. However the responsibility of being a parent is another story altogether. I've seen friends who struggle because they know they want kids, but never realised they dont know how to be parents.

If you are not ready, the poor kid suffers. Dont you want the best for them?

Janey, its a post about Aeisyah. And about how cute the way she moves :)... Nothing about Najah wanting babies or not in that post. Haiyaa...

Please guys, don't be judgemental. It was too an emotional draining experience already with the Sasha Saidin post.

I do apologize for being crude. I thought I remembered one of your blog entries about 'having the freedom to postpone procreation'. I must have misunderstood it entirely then. Hope you and Sharizal will be blessed with kids soon insya allah.
