Tracking Music

Ten years ago with The Wise Guys, Apollo Four Forty, Dope on Plastic series, The Rebirth of Cool, Tricky, DJ Food and Portishead. Lots of cool factor, lots of haunting echoes in the background of a deep grinding heart beat, lots of attitude and 'wit'. The kind of music you can imagine becoming the soundtrack to your life when you're 23 and shivering outside a cafe on Chapel Street trying to look cool with a stick of St Moritz in your hand waiting for a plate of vegetarian nachos.

I now find the influence of this music which was once a niche market (an influence from the likes of Monica Sherchan and Emina Johnson) appearing in local music stores in the form of compilations, remixed wonderfully almost beyond recognition.

Thank you thank you!

I got a package over the weekend which contained the Sound of Milano Fashion and Sex Lounge, among others. It's not exactly the same, but similar enough to take me back... almost 10 years!

Happy Happy Joy Joy!

The likes of Milano Fashion are still branded as DJ/Club Mixes, and can only be found if you know where to look, but not available at just any CD shop.

Sadly, you can easily tell just by watching MTV.
