I saw a very attractive woman at lunch today. I was lunching at Chinoz on the Park with Noreen, and while waiting for my Lebanese Lamb Wrap with Cucumber Raita (or something like that), I caught a glimpse of a woman sitting at a table of 5 other women.
No, my lesbian tendencies are not surfacing. But it was amazing that as I was dazed by my hunger (didn't have time for breakfast this morning), and anxiety that I wouldn't have time to finish my lunch (meeting at 2), I found myself enthralled by this creature.
She was probably medium height, with midnight black hair, porcelain skin, and dark smouldering eyes (hehe.. am really starting to sound like a trashy romance novelist..) that reminded me of a chubby Bjork. She wore a bright yellow t-shirt which suited her obviously sunny disposition.
She seemed to radiate, so much so that I confess: If I were a guy, I would have walked over and paid her a compliment. It wasn't just beauty - in fact, she was an unconventional beauty as I'm sure she'd never get on the cover of FHM or Cleo anytime soon. But as I studied her facial expressions, her smile, the grace in her movements, and the delightful mystery she seemed to exude, she reminded me more of the Mona Lisa. I can imagine quite a few men, and women, falling in love with this one.

Posted by: jikon at 2003年07月09日 16:31I have a tendency to admire beautiful women too. Heheh... Maybe that is why Islam asks us to cover ourselves. Even women can admire other women, what more men!
Posted by: sarini at 2003年07月09日 17:14The question is quite moot, chez, since I happen to hear of it from my some friends a lot ;)
Depends on what exactly you admire, I guess ..
Posted by: Ash.ox at 2003年07月09日 18:24hehe! yeah, pics of that woman would go well with this post. i find that i'm attracted to people who are "animated" ie extroverted, enthusiastic etc. a very small sample (about 30 of my guy friends) mostly agree that those are good virtues at first sight. *shrug*
Posted by: killuminati at 2003年07月09日 19:26I've noticed a few women like that.
I like people who talk with their hands, in fact I advocate it 'cos it makes you stand out.
And in men and women, I think unconventional beauty is so much more fun than the typical glossed over model types.
Freckles, pixie haircuts (i.e Hani), funky dress sense, eloquence, those are so much more interesting than looking like a model... I find that unconventional beauties tend to hold people's attention more in a room, especially when they are paired up with lovely personality traits.
IMHO that is.
Posted by: meesh at 2003年07月09日 21:05I must say, this is not the most beautiful piece written on the beauty of Mona Lisa ... would a male do a better job :) ?
Posted by: Al Cate at 2003年07月09日 21:56I was devastated from a break up once. I thought men were simply no damn good and I am giving up on them. So a lesbian colleague of mine must have thought I would be riped for conversion and invited me out for drinks at a gay bar - somewhere in New Jersey.
We were having drinks and in walks a gorgeous woman. The thought that ran through my head was "God, what I'd give to look like her" and Ellie spoke "God, what I'd give to fuck her."
That simple statement from her confirmed my sexuality - heterosexual for sure.
I think it's perfectly fine to admire other pretty looking people of the same gender. Otherwise InStyle or Vogue will have no business.
And not all lesbians are butches. The one I saw looked like Cameron Diaz. Wait a minute, maybe it was her....
Posted by: Big © at 2003年07月09日 23:03Ash,
It doesn't matter what I exactly admire. Beauty is not gender-bound.
Posted by: chez1978 at 2003年07月09日 23:44Chez: I was just curious, btw. I usually fall into the "I'd like to look like him" trap. Heheh.
MmmMm. A mystery woman? An unconventional beauty? Sign me up. Najah, you kill me by not posting a picture. But then again, some things are better left beyond our ken. And besides, the images you put in my head are worth more than any picture.
Am very intrigued now. What day of the week was this again?
Posted by: Ash.ox at 2003年07月10日 10:42Women tend to check out other women - just admiring how good they look and stuff so that they can copycat:))
Well, men don't check out other men rights?! That's what my friend told me and I don't know if they do.
Anyway, don't worry Najah, you're not a les...
Posted by: yashmin at 2003年07月25日 08:49I am married but I am easily attracted at other women. That really is a great test for me in this life.
