It's not often that a friend calls me up distraught. I'm quite unreliable, although I've been told I give good advice. My unreliability stems from the fact that more often than not, I can't get my act together with regards to my life, and hence, if one were to rely on me for aspects of their lives, one would have to be prepared to disappointed.
Nonetheless, I picked up this call, and over the sobs and the sorrow, my friend said, "I just wanted to hear your voice". So I listened, I uhuh-ed, I understood and I told her that I love her.
The next morning, I was in KLCC bright and early (earlier than a normal workday), to meet my friend at Chinoz on the Park and drown her sorrows in beef bacon and banana pancakes, after which I had some spare time to meet up with the bloggers at the cafe next door.
I didn't stay long though, much to my dismay as the crowd looked way too interesting to be left without a proper workover. There was the one's I already knew (KaZ, Aiz, Sarini, Maria), there were the ones that I felt like I already knew (Hani... we all KNOW Hani... hehe, Khalilur, Adipujangga, Ash, Meesh), and the one's I had only heard of by reputation (Racheal, IreneQ, Grace), not sure if I left anyone out, I was there for only about 5 minutes! :)
Anyway, the reason why I had to leave dropped by, a far-away blogger from a far-away island - Fische, who came up to KL to chill-out and celebrate his 33rd birthday.
I have known Fische for a total of 9 years now. In fact, this is where I would like to declare he got that funny spelling for his nickname from yours truly. Anyway, in all those years of friendship, I have learned one thing - true friends are few and far between, and the ones we find, we have to hang on to for as long as we can.
Walking the shore that day, each reaches down for stones from time to time, the other talking, her eye finding stones like purple berries, his hand holding a cloud-light shell to her.Posted by Najah Nasseri at 2003年07月06日 15:03 | TrackBackSeas they cannot yet see are ancient seas;

Thanks ... but it was a coincidence I was there that day. Dropped in for as business trip and decided to extend it a little to chill-out. I'm feeling way too old.
