I attended a farewell lunch of an ex-boss at Park Plaza Hotel. We have been going through a transformation in this past year, one that is painful to some and eagerly awaited by others, and farewells have been more frequent that usual.
I have worked with this person in various capacities, via projects a couple of years back and direct reporting some time last year. During this time, I got to familiarise myself with his management style, which was impressive at the very least.
He is meticulous - an accountant's eye on technology details, and humble. His humility showed itself today in his speech. He thanked all of us for the lessons we have taught him throughout the years, and took the time to walk to each table, personally thank us - not just the other bosses but us 'little people' as well - and shake our hands, perhaps to signify that this is not really goodbye.
I personally hope this this is not the last we see of him. Funny enough, he's my third boss with the initials TW.
[Speaking of goodbyes, I bade farewell for Level 62. I'm a bit closer to the ground now as I break in my new cubicle on Level 58 - and this floor is 'creaking'. *sigh*]
