Al-Razy considered passionate love a sickness whereas Ibn Sina, in his book Al-Qanun (p71-73), regards it differently. He writes, "It is an obsessive disorder like melancholia, which man brings upon himself by concentrating his thinking totally on valuing some images and qualities."
